Dream, but don’t sleep!

I'm living in a dream......

"My strange desire
I waiting here
To be my light
My shadow, my storm
This is all and
This is you
Turning into
Another dream
Please don't be
Another dream...."   > INXS

I’ve left the cold of my winter for summer

Yes, summer and sun are finally there!

“And if we should die tonight
Then we should all die together
Raise a glass of wine for the last time
Cooling out for the rope
Prepare as we will
Watch the flames burn over and over
The mountrains sigh…”       > Ed Sheeran

rouge & noir

1) Rouge : I really like pink and red together! especially if it is OPI's colour!!

2) Noir : the new album from The Black Keys is out now! I began to listen to it and really enjoy Year in Review  and In our Prime... (besides that, tomorrow it is the 35th birthday of the singer, Dan Auerbach!)

“I just wanna, I just wanna know
If you're gonna, if you're gonna stay
I just gotta, I just gotta know
I can't have it, I can't have it any other way…”       > Vance Joy

promise is a deal

I wrote that I'll make a review about Foster The People's Supermodel...here it is!

I have to confess that I was a bit afraid about what this second album could be, because I just adore their first one! But it's been a month I only listen to it (+ Torches + new songs from The Black Keys...) and don't cannot stop.

So then? Some songs (like 'Pseudologia Fantastica' or 'The Truth') sound like nothing else, but I also appreciate them and for me, they perfectly knew how to stay true to their style while evolving. Music still has this amazing (Helena)beat and joy and energy which make me dance!
Besides that, lyrics improved too, being more adult and serious ('Are you what you wanna be?' and 'Ask yourself' made me think about life, consumerism and future a lot...!)

Plus, I find Mark Pontius (drums) is as cute as a surfer....

“If you want more and you'll get there.
Throw a quarter in the well.
 Well, it's okay, you're fine, ambition's not a crime.
And you say that dreamers always get what they desire.
Well I've found, the more I want the less I've got.
Is this the life you've been waiting for.
Or are you hoping that you'll be where you want with a little more?
Well ask yourself…”                                                               > Foster The People

what on earth is going on?

1) cute Joseph Gordon-Levitt and beautiful Emma Watson looking amazing together at the Oscars' ceremony!

2) absolutely gorgeous prints from Peter Pilotto x Target!

3) new video clip from Arctic Monkeys : 'Arabella' which is so visual and retro...

4) new (and super easy) way to do my nails!!

5) Foster the People are back! How is this new album?  Torches was INCREDIBLY enjoyable and  I love every single song. This one sounds different even if there are some great tunes, like "Ask Yourself", "The Truth" or "Are you what you want to be?"(maybe I'll make a review soon!)

6) weather isn't warm enough to wear summer dresses, so I draw them...

7) my mum began to bake fantastic (and delicious) cakes!!

“If there's another way it is hiding from us darling
'Cause the outside world doesn't need our help tonight
Drunken satellites in the orbit of our earth
In the gentle night little whispers draw us closer …”    >  Tired Pony

what is this thing...?

I know I've not made a music review for a long time...(last was in September).

This winter, I was listening to the radio when I heard a voice that I already knew, but couldn't name whose it was... : Tom Smith *, vocalist of Editors (I saw them once in live, few years ago, but didn't really begin to listen to them properly since now...).
Their last album is gorgeous and romantic (look at that beautiful picture cover!)! There is all kinds of songs and I really appreciate Tom's voice which is deep, clear and responding perfectely to violins...

Alex + Alex (music review)

Twitter, Pinterest

1. Alex (Kapranos) = Franz Ferdinand

FOUR YEARS after Tonight (which unfortunately hadn't much success...even if I really really like their funny lyrics ('Twilight Omens', 'Ulysses', 'No you girls',...)), here are 10 new songs!
Okay, I don't (already) understand everything they say ("We're fresh strawberries..."*/"Car keys choose your keys..."**), but their music still sounds as FF but with some very nice improvements (choir, rythme, trumpets or hypnotic chorus).
And Alex's voice is great, excited and sexy with his improbable tones. This is a great album to dance, jump, run or to make some exercice :)
So, yes, I love this album and it could become my favourite one!

2. Alex (Turner) = Arctic Monkeys

Okay, I already wrote about this album (here), but I was OBLIGED to make a review. Why? It is awesome! Okay, Alex's voice is soooooooo sexy, but music is amazing (bass on 'Knee socks' or 'I want it all', guitar on 'Do I wanna know?' or drums on 'Snap out of it'), more mature and lyrics are still good ("Secrets that I have held in my heart are harder to hide that I thought..."*** / "I can't explain but I want to try, There's this image of you and I..."****)
One negative point? I worried they'll become too American...because, yes, we feel this sunny hip-hop californian influence on their work. Not bad. Yet.
Love it, but should be my 2nd favourite of their albums ; 1st = Worst Favourite Nightmare...

"I'll meet you coming backwards
I'll meet you coming back
When the universe has expanded
Time will contract
You'll come back..."

> Franz Ferdinand

"And her lips are like the galaxy's edge
And a kiss the colour of a constelation
falling into place..."

> Arctic Monkeys

* 'Fresh Strawberries'
** 'Brief Encounters'
*** 'I wanna be yours'
**** 'Fireside'

I discovered a new band : Alt-J (which means delta and is also seen as : )
It gave me the idea to make some triangles on my nails while listening to their gorgeous songs...

"Triangles are my favorite shape
Three points where two lines meet
Toe to toe, back to back, let's go, my love; it's very late
'Til morning comes, let's tessellate...."                                  > Alt-J

Slept upon it then I woke up
With it backwards on my face
Reading forwards
From my mirror to my heart…”   > Franz Ferdinand

"R U mine?" I wanna know

I'm really really really really happyyyyyyyyyy  to I have some tickets to see Arctic Monkeys live at a festival nearby!!!!

Yes, I already told you about my love for Alex Turner (here and here) and when I listened to their last hypnotic song (Do I wanna know) I had an auditory orgasm... I   him and his amazing voice !!  So, if he agrees, I'm his!

♥  ♥

“I dreamt about you nearly every night this week
How many secrets can you keep?
Cause there’s this tune I found that makes me think of you somehow
When I play it on repeat
Until I fall asleep
Spilling drinks on my settee

And I’m sorry to interrupt
It’s just I’m constantly on the cusp
Of trying to kiss you
I don’t know if you feel the same as I do
We could be together if you wanted to…”         >  Arctic Monkeys

“If I had a heart,
 I would've let you go
And if I had a heart.
Well I wonder would I know
 That we're still miles away
 Still running and hiding
 If I had a heart,
 Was good to you,
What good would that do now?”    > Andy Burrow

orange crush

I really like orange for summer (especially when we're sun-tanned), but while wearing my new sparkling OPI orange favourite polish, I realised I was listening to bands with  ginger singers...haha

"In the morning light let my roots take pride
Watch me from above like a vicious ghost
They don't see me come, who can blame them?
Never seem to catch my eye but I never wondered why
I won't fall asleep..."

> Imagine Dragons

We,
We only know, what we see
Cause we're always fast asleep
Cause it's so hard not to believe
That we'll never know
Oh hold, hold, hold, hold me close
I've never been this far from home
Hold, hold, hold me close

to the moon and back

I put Railroad Track in my playlist of 2012 and you probably already heard his song Yeah Yeah in the ad for 'Ipod'. Willy Moon is a young musician from New Zealand who just releases, after few singles, his first album! I really like his retro-pop-songs and his black&white photography too...so I wanted to make you discover him!

PS: Yes, the title of this post refers to the song of the band Savage Garden...

"I ain't waste no more time
See that girl, she's so fine
And I know that she's mine
'Cause she said she loves me yeah
She said something to me
Just wait and see
How it's gonna be
'Cause she said she loves me yeah
She said she loves me now
She really loves me now
She's my baby and I think I love her too..."   > Willy Moon

I see life in black&white

Hurts.
yes, again...
still a week!

I saw them live and their show has the same stark gloomy melancholic universe which is already present in their songs and the design of their albums.

Can't wait more!

"No love, no light, no end inside
And I’m looking for a miracle
And I’m looking for a miracle
But I hope, I pray, and I will fight
Cause I’m looking for a miracle
Cause I’m looking for a miracle

There’s a place I wanna go
And a life I wanna know..."   > Hurts

March will be my favourite month for the year...

Just because I'm waiting for the  new album of Hurts, one of my favourite bands (which will be available on the 11th March!!!). I discovered this band during summer 2010 with the song Wonderful Life and when I bought their CD, I just fell in love!

The duet created its own world and atmosphere, compared to most of the bands which only have a theme and ambience for each album. I'm hardly sure that they will still have the same, even in 10 or 20 years.

So I 'm just looking forward their new songs (I already ADORE Miracle and Sandman!)!!!

found on Google

"Are you looking for happiness?
Are you looking for something better?
Can you ever feel emptiness?..."             > HURTS

PS: To be able to wait until March 11,  Miles Kane released his new song today! :)
